China plans U.S. revisit to ease traffic frictions

BEIJING, March 19 (Reuters) - Chinese Vice Commerce MinisterZhong Shan will visit the United States on March 24-26 with theaim of easing trade frictions.

The Ministry of Commerce announced the upcoming visit on itswebsite. It did not mention the yuan but said the discussionswould focus on "Sino-U.S. trade balance and trade frictions andother issues related to trade".

Tensions have risen markedly this week after the U.S. Senatethreatened to slap duties on Chinese products if Beijing doesnot revalue the yuan. (Reporting by Langi Chiang and Simon Rabinovitch; Editing byKen Wills)
